Description

The perfect symbol for the pearl 30th anniversary cake, this realistic set of top and bottom shells will fool anyone, 2⅝” long (6.5 cm).

To construct oyster, prepare top and bottom shells in mold with white marbleized with gray dough. Form them with a slightly hollowed-out center, not level with top surface of mold. Chill until firm. Remove from mold and let dry on cotton or fiberfill until completely dry. Dust outer surface with varying shades of black, blue, brown and green petal dusts finally shimmering with a light coating of pearl dust.
Next, to sculpt flesh, form an oval shape in beige dough the size of the smoothest area of the shell. Pinch or slightly ruffle outer edge of “meat” and dust brown petal dust inwardly.
Glue meat into bottom pushing it all the way to the back narrow part of the shell. Brush egg white near hinge area on top of meat and then align top shell to connect there. Press firmly to close securely, thus glueing hinge, propping up outer lip with cotton to desired height. Let dry thoroughly!
To finish, brush water loosened piping gel on inner surface, finally setting a ball of sugar dough dusted with Pearl dust to show what the oyster has accomplished throughout its life.

All green silicone molds are designed by Scott Clark Woolley and made of durable silicone that creates strong impressions in any medium. Silicone is heat and cold resistant, therefore, excellent for chocolate and other melted forms.
